Over 320,000 took COVID-19 vaccine in Moscow
Between 15,000 and 20,000 undergo vaccination daily, according to the deputy mayor
MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. Over 320,000 people have already taken the COVID-19 vaccine in Moscow, with up to 25,000 signing up every day, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Social Development Anastasia Rakova said in an interview Thursday.
"As of today, we have over 320,000 Moscow residents vaccinated. Every day, between 15,000 and 20,000 people undergo vaccination, and between 17,000 and 25,000 sign up for it," she said.
Rakova expressed hope that more and more city residents will get the jab every day, and, therefore, the immune portion of the population will grow.
The deputy mayor disclosed that over 330 vaccinated city residents were aged above 90, while nine people were older than 100.
Vaccination against the coronavirus infection rolled out in Moscow on December 5, 2020. City authorities intend to inoculate 6 to 7 million people. Besides, the authorities may consider introducing benefits for the vaccinated.
There are 100 vaccination points operational in city clinics; a number of private clinics administer the shot as well. City authorities constantly expand the list of groups eligible for the vaccine.
Moscow is currently Russia’s number one region by COVID-19 cases: a total of 922,559 infections were registered there, including 2,897 in the past 24 hours. In all, 797,462 have recovered, while 13,237 have died.
