Russia diplomat urges not to pull minors into ‘infernal staging’ via illegal rallies

Russian blogger Alexey Navalny's supporters posted calls to hold unauthorized rallies in his support on January 23 over his arrest

MOSCOW, January 22. /TASS/. Minors must not be pulled into the "infernal staging" of Alexey Navalny’s sympathizers by participating in unauthorized rallies, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote in her Facebook Friday.

"There is nothing good to be expected when minors are being called to rallies. Because children are pulled into political battles when no other options work, which means that the ideologists of this process will be ready to do anything to achieve their goals," she underscored.

"Do everything you can so that your children do not become a bargaining chip in this infernal staging," Zakharova added.

Russian blogger Alexey Navalny, previously declared wanted for violation of punishment conditions over the Yves Rocher case, was apprehended in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport Sunday after arriving from Berlin. The Khimki Moscow Court arrested him until February 15. His supporters posted calls to hold unauthorized rallies in his support on January 23. On Friday, the Investigative Committee disclosed that criminal cases were initiated over enticement of minors into participating in the rallies.
