Russia seeing decline in number of COVID-19 cases, says watchdog chief

KAZAN, January 20. /TASS/. There is a trend in Russia towards a decrease in the coronavirus morbidity rate, Head of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing Anna Popova said on Wednesday.

"The figures are lower, you can see that there is a downward trend. We are doing everything right," she said.

To date, 3,633,952 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 3,027,316 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 67,220 fatalities nationwide. Earlier, the Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.
