Nearly 1,500 coronavirus mutations found in Russia

The analysis of information about coronavirus mutations across the world is underway at the Saratov-based Anti-Plague Institute Mikrob

MOSCOW, January 15. /TASS/. Nearly 1,500 coronavirus mutations have been found in Russia, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing Anna Popova said on the sidelines of the Gaidar Forum on Friday.

"It is an important aspect and we are working on it. We have found nearly 1,500 mutations so far," she noted.

According to the watchdog chief, the analysis of information about coronavirus mutations across the world is underway at the Saratov-based Anti-Plague Institute Mikrob. "The much talked about mutations that have emerged in some countries, mostly European ones, became evident back in September. Moreover, the first changes of this kind were identified in June," Popova explained.
