Most Russian schools return to in-person learning

Currently, only nine schools in Russia remain quarantined due to COVID-19

MOSCOW, January 14. /TASS/. The vast majority of Russian regions returned to in-person learning in schools after the New Year holidays, Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov told TASS on Thursday.

"Starting from the first working week, the vast majority of regions have returned school children to their desks, while Moscow made a decision on the full return to in-person learning today. This is an encouraging fact, showing that our joint work with the regions to protect people’s health has been effective," Kravtsov said.

According to the education minister, certain surgical measures still remain in place. Furthermore, the decisions, taken to adjust the holidays and schedules and disinfect school premises, have yielded results.

"Once again, I will emphasize that our priority is the continuous work of the education system and in-person learning format, face-to-face dialogue between the teacher and the student. Currently, only nine schools in Russia remain quarantined due to COVID-19. We continue monitoring the situation," Kravtsov said.
