Hainan took the third place among Shanghai and Yunnan Province

HAIKOU, March 21. /TASS/. Hainan was ranked as one of the three most popular regions of China among tourists, according to a study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Tourism.

According to a public opinion poll, which was conducted among about 15,000 people, after the end of the epidemic 17% of respondents would like to go on a holiday to Yunnan in the south-west of the country, which was called the most attractive place. It is followed by Hainan (15%), and then - the country's leading metropolis, Shanghai (14%), with more than 24 million inhabitants. The most unpopular among 31 administrative-territorial units of mainland China was Hubei Province, where an epidemic of a novel coronavirus started about three months ago.

As follows from a social survey, approximately 60% of respondents plan to travel around the country from May to August, and only 12% - from March to April. The rest believe that the trips can be postponed at least until the fall.

Academy experts found that about a third of respondents would prefer a calm vacation, another 24% would like to purposefully explore various sights, and only 9% like cultural and sports leisure. More than 90% of Chinese tourists said that in this situation they would not want to leave the country and are ready to travel to China.

It turned out that the most popular transport for traveling around China was a car - more than 40% of tourists are going to use it, cars are followed by trains (29%), and buses (16%) and only then - airplanes (14%).

According to the study, approximately 40% of respondents plan to spend no more than 10,000 yuan (about $ 1.400 at the current rate) while traveling on holidays and weekends, another 45% - from 10,000 to 40,000 yuan (up to $ 5,600). And only 3% are ready to spend over 50,000 yuan (approximately $ 7,000) from the personal budget for entertainment.
