"Sheena667," a debut film of Russian director Grigory Dobrygin has entered the main competition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam
MOSCOW, January 10. /TASS/. "Sheena667," a debut film of Russian director Grigory Dobrygin has entered the main competition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, the filmmaker told TASS on Thursday.
"The film entered the main program of the festival, which is called Tiger Competition. Eight movies take part in it and all have equal chances to win. But participation itself - the fact that a debut film was selected by the festival, focusing on the support of independent, non-commercial films - is a great joy," Dobrygin said.
The film set in Vyshny Volochyok, a city in Russia’s Tver region. It is about a young couple of Olya and Vadim, who both work in a car-service center on the outskirts of the city. The main roles were performed by young Russian actors Julia Peresild and Vladimir Svirsky.
The International Film Festival Rotterdam is one of the biggest in Europe, along with the Cannes Film Festival, festivals in Venice, Berlin and Locarno. It has been held since 1972 and is aimed at supporting alternative and non-commercial cinema. This year's screening will be held from January 23 to February 3.
