Russian Father Frost and Finnish Joulupukki to meet on Russia-Finland border
The meeting is expected to take place next week
ST. PETERSBURG, December 11. / TASS /. The All-Russian Father Frost from Veliky Ustyug and his Finnish counterpart Joulupukki from Lapland will hold a traditional pre-New Year meeting on the border between Russia and Finland, the Consul General of Finland in St. Petersburg Anna Lammila told TASS on Tuesday.
"There will be a meeting between Father Frost and Joulupukki at the border next week," said the head of the Finnish consular mission. The press service of the Vyborg district of the Leningrad region clarified that the meeting will take place on December 20 at the Brusnichnoye road crossing point. It is expected that the New Year wizards will exchange greetings and gifts, and then watch the performances of Russian and Finnish artistic groups.
Later that day, Father Frost, accompanied by his retinue, will travel to the Finnish city of Lappeenranta, where he will wish residents a Happy New Year and Merry Christmas, and will also visit Vyborg, where he will light a holiday tree on the Red Square.
