Putin thanks Russia’s religions for bolstering global spiritual bonds, warns against rifts
Vladimir Putin has cautioned against attempts to sever the Russian world’s spiritual bonds, stressing that political maneuvering on this score is fraught with serious consequences
MOSCOW, October 31. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned against attempts to sever the Russian world’s spiritual bonds, stressing that political maneuvering on this score is fraught with serious consequences.
"Today I cannot fail to mention the efforts made by the Russian Orthodox Church and other traditional religions - Islam, Judaism and Buddhism. I would like to thank them for strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and our compatriots abroad," he said at a meeting of the World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad.
"Unfortunately, attempts are being made at rupturing these bonds in one way or another and dragging them off into ethnic quarters. Let me emphasize one thing. Political maneuvering in such a sensitive area has always resulted in dire consequences," he stressed.
