Number of foreign students at Russian universities grows by 40%

The number of foreign students enrolled in Russian universities went up by 40% from 2013 to 2017 and reached about 290 thousand people, which indicates that Russian education system has become more appealing to international students in recent years, Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Marina Borovskaya stated on Tuesday.
"Even today, we can state that our universities have become more appealing. In the period from 2013 to 2017, the number of foreign students had been growing constantly and had gone up by more than 40%, which now constitutes about 290 thousand foreigners studying at Russian universities," the deputy minister said.
According to her, the number of international students in Russian universities will keep growing and may reach 425 thousand people by 2024.
