Russian director, scriptwriter and producer Angelina Nikonova finished working on an American horror flick called Nishkinata, filmed in the US
MOSCOW, April 26. / TASS /. Russian director, scriptwriter and producer Angelina Nikonova finished working on an American horror flick called Nishkinata, filmed in the US, she told TASS in an interview on Thursday.
"The shooting has already been completed, and the film should be ready by the end of 2018," said Nikonova. "Up next, are meetings with distributors and moviegoers at festivals. I have a lot of aspirations about the festivals, but it’s scary to guess how things will pan out. Plans for them are ambitious."
Nikonova added that the film would first be released in United States, since it is an American film, in English, with American cultural characteristics. "I’ll be thrilled if the film is picked up by many countries, and that includes Russia," she noted.
She went on to say that, she "believes in internal demons that put up a serious battle against us." She went on to say that "for example, in the state of Mississippi, everyone is obsessed with ghosts, witches and it was impossible to avoid that topic."
Nikonova said that the invitation to shoot a movie in America came from Twelve Productions. "It is a Los Angeles company that invited me to make the horror film," she explained. "In the end, I wrote the screenplay, and directed it," Nikonova stressed.
"My next movie will be filmed in Moscow, St. Petersburg and, most likely, in Paris," the director said.
"I hope I stretched my director's muscles enough to embark on a film about great love and tremendous pain." The film will be based on the book by Karina Dobrotvorskaya entitled "Anybody seen my girl? 100 letters to Seryozha." The novel revolves around letters by a woman to her ex-husband, upon his death.
"It will be a melodrama with a strong accent on ‘drama’. The casting is expected to take place in May, and the filming is scheduled to begin in the fall, so that the flick could be ready by next spring," she emphasized. Nikonova is working together with film producer Sabina Eremeeva, and music and TV producer Natella Krapivina.
