Russia's space corporation to promote navigation services, space tourism on global market
The main areas in which Roscosmos occupies a considerable market share are the program for taking cosmonauts to the ISS, exporting engines and launching useful payloads
MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. Roscosmos plans to offer foreign partners satellite communication and navigation services, as well as space tourism under the strategy of development until 2050, Roscosmos Director General Igor Komarov told TASS during the Space like Business conference.
"We are going to develop new areas related to satellite communications, navigation and Earth remote sensing. I hope that our advancements and negotiations with the leading global companies on piloted programs, their commercialization and space tourism will have an effect now," Komarov said. Modules may be created at the International Space Station (ISS) for these purposes, he said.
He reiterated that the main areas in which Roscosmos is working and the traditional areas in which the state corporation occupies a considerable market share are the program for taking cosmonauts to the ISS, exporting engines and launching useful payloads.
Roscosmos was earlier reported to have ordered development of proposals to form, develop and promote on the global market a global line of Russian space equipment until 2050. The goal of the program is to bolster Russian positions on the space services market and exploration of its new sectors. The Interagency Analytical Center that provides services to federal ministries and agencies was ordered to prepare the document.
