MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament) ratified an intergovernmental agreement with China on measures to protect technologies related to cooperation in the exploration and peaceful use of outer space at its meeting on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed in Beijing on June 25, 2016. Its purposes is "to create an organizational and legal basis for preventing unauthorized access to and transfer of protected technologies, in particular with regard to cooperation in rocket and space activities, including the creation and operation of launch vehicles and ground-based space infrastructure."

The agreements regulate the scope and procedures for the parties’ access to both the technical data and equipment within the framework of joint projects at all stages of their implementation. That applies to the development and creation of protected technologies and products, their transportation, customs control, preparations for the operation of launch vehicles and the relevant ground-based space infrastructure as well as potential emergency situations.
