The Russian Defense Ministry plans to spend the allocated funds on developing the infrastructure of the first state test cosmodrome at the Plesetsk space center

MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry has no plans to create a second state test cosmodrome at the Vostochny spaceport similar to the facility at the Plesetsk space center in the Arkhangelsk Region in north Russia, a source in the Russian Defense Ministry told TASS on Friday.

"We have no plans for creating a second state test cosmodrome. That is why, our ministry won’t have anything of this kind there," the source said.

The ministry considers it inexpedient to scatter allocated funds and deems it necessary to spend them exclusively on developing the infrastructure of the first state test cosmodrome at the Plesetsk space center, the source said.

"All our attention is now focused on further infrastructure development at Plesetsk. Work is under way there to reconstruct old and build new facilities in our interests both for the tests of new space rocketry and its launches," the source said.
