Russian university gets 5 stars in 5 categories of QS Stars international ratings system

The categories are: the quality of education, internationalization, infrastructure, innovativeness and social environment

MOSCOW, May 10 /TASS/. The Russian University of Friendship of Peoples (RUDN) was the first among Russian institutions of higher education to get 5 stars in 5 categories of the QS Stars international ratings, the university’s press service said on Tuesday.

"The Russian University of Friendship of Peoples has received 5 stars under the QS Stars International Rating System in 5 categories: the quality of education, internationalization, infrastructure, innovativeness and social environment," the press service said.

"The entrance into the world rankings is the result of many measures taken to increase the international competitiveness of the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples, including under the "5-100" program. The QS Stars success is a convincing proof that the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples deserves to be on a par with the world’s leading universities," the University’s Rector Vladimir Filippov, the rector of the Russian University of Friendship of Peoples, said.

QS Stars is one of the most prominent world university ratings systems (compiled by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds), which evaluates many aspects of university activities in eight categories. Ratings from 0 to 5+ is awarded to institutions of high learning dependent on the number of points accumulated in the course of comprehensive audit on more than 50 indicators reflecting the state of an educational institution.

The ratings’ main purpose is to give an opportunity to students, parents and experts to gain the maximum diverse idea of various universities. The comprehensive analysis of institutions of high learning is carried out on the basis of independent sources; the results of opinion polls conducted among academics and professionals (including employers); a university’s perception by students and graduates.
