Russian space corporation working on new-generation communications system

MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos is working on a new-generation communications and data transfer system, the details will be announced in April and May, Roscosmos head Igor Komarov told reporters on Wednesday.

"We are elaborating the project to create a new-generation communications and data transmission system. We study the needs of the federal executive power bodies and other users of communications systems and, together with the leading operators are working on this issue," Komarov said.

"We are working on the system’s technical appearance, and I think, in April or May we, together with our partners in this project, will make a more detailed announcement," he said.

The Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, commonly known as Roscosmos, is the governmental body responsible for the space science program of Russia and general aerospace research. The Corporation was established on the basis of the now-defunct Federal Space Agency on December 28, 2015. Roscosmos was previously known as the Russian Aviation and Space Agency, commonly known as Rosaviakosmos.
