This year Geminid meteor shower reached its peak on December 13
The Geminids are an annual meteor shower formed by the debris of the 3200 Phaethon asteroid burning up in the atmosphere. The Geminids were first observed in 1862. The shower is thought to be intensifying every year and recent showers have seen 120–160 meteors per hour under optimal conditions. In 2015 Russians can observe the Geminids meteor shower from 6 to 19 December. This year the meteor shower reached its peak on December 13.
