MOSCOW, December 24. /TASS/. The GLONASS navigation satellite constellation currently consists of 24 satellites operating reliably in orbit, with four additional satellites prepared for launch to replace any losses, Yury Borisov, head of Russia’s Roscosmos State Space Agency, said.
"Twenty-four satellites are operating sustainably in orbit. If necessary, we have another four satellites ready on Earth to replenish any losses within the constellation," Borisov stated in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.
Borisov added that over the past year, Roscosmos has expanded its Earth remote sensing constellation by introducing high-resolution observation satellites, including a Resurs-P satellite and a Kondor radar imaging satellite. He also noted that another Resurs-P satellite is scheduled for launch before the end of the year.
