Crew Dragon launch with Russian cosmonaut onboard rescheduled
Strong winds hindered the launch of the spaceship, SpaceX said
NEW YORK, March 3. /TASS/. Strong winds hindered the launch of the Crew Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) with Russian cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin onboard on March 2 with the flight being postponed until the next day, SpaceX said.
"Standing down from tonight's launch of Crew-8 due to elevated winds in Dragon's ascent corridor. Now targeting Sunday, March 3 for liftoff," it said on the X social network.
Apart from Grebenkin, the crew includes NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, commander; Michael Barratt, pilot; and mission specialist Jeanette Epps.
Roscosmos said on July 15, 2022 that it had signed an agreement on joint cross flights between Russian cosmonauts and US astronauts to the ISS, which provided for three flights carrying Russian cosmonauts onboard US spaceships. Summing up the results of 2023, the corporation said that the program of cross flights had been expanded through 2025.
