ISS, December 29. /TASS/. The crew members of the Soyuz MS-24 spacecraft have carried out an exercise to practice an emergency undocking from the International Space Station (ISS), Oleg Kononenko, commander of the Roscosmos cosmonaut squad and TASS special correspondent, reported.

"Today, the Soyuz MS-24 crew members carried out an exercise to practice an emergency undocking from the ISS following an accident. It involved the use of a simulator for manually controlled descent and the studying of the Soyuz data files concerning emergency situations and descent," Kononenko said.

According to him, together with Russian cosmonaut Nikolay Chub, they performed three manually controlled descent exercises based on different initial conditions in order to be able to conduct the descent process in the atmosphere, reporting their actions and control data.

"We were then joined by [NASA astronaut] Loral [O’Hara], and together with the crew instructor, we thoroughly discussed what should be done in various emergency situations both aboard the ISS and the Soyuz spacecraft," Kononenko added.

In early december, the Soyuz MS-24 crew conducted an exercise to put on emergency face masks designed to be used if ammonia leaks.
