Russia approves design of Angara rocket adapted for launch of national orbiter’s modules
The conceptual design of the adaptation of the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Russian Far East and the Angara-A5M rocket for the launch of ROS modules has already passed an expert study, Alexey Varochko said
MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. The technical design of the Angara-A5M heavy carrier rocket modified for the launch of modules of the future Russian Orbital Station (ROS) has been approved by the customer, CEO of the Khrunichev Space Center (part of the State Space Corporation Roscosmos) Alexey Varochko told TASS on Monday.
"The devised technical design of the Angara-A5M carrier rocket has been approved by the customer," the chief executive said.
The conceptual design of the adaptation of the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Russian Far East and the Angara-A5M rocket for the launch of ROS modules has already passed an expert study at leading institutes of the space rocket industry, he said.
Varochko told TASS in April that the Khrunichev Space Center would adapt the Angara-A5M carrier rocket for the launch of modules of Russia’s future orbital station.
Deputy Chief Designer of the Energia Space Rocket Corporation (part of Roscosmos), ROS Chief Designer Vladimir Kozhevnikov told TASS in February that Russia planned to launch the ROS first research/power module at the end of 2027 and the nodal, gateway, baseline and special-purpose modules in 2028-2030.
