Top senator suggests easing access to space exploration for private companies
Valentina Matviyenko urged to adopt the experience of the West as well "if it demonstrates its efficiency and permits achieving new results"
MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko considers it necessary to raise the attractiveness of investing in the domestic space sector, for doing which it is necessary to improve legislation in this area, easing access to space exploration for private companies.
On her blog published on the upper house’s website on the occasion of Cosmonautics Day on Wednesday, she noted the importance of "developing private-public partnership in space exploration." "For doing this it is necessary to raise the attractiveness of investing in our space sector, protect investments, ensuring reliable guarantees. Today’s practical steps in this direction mainly bump into inadequacy of the legal basis. I consider it necessary to enable the legislation to quicky adjust to the demands of times," Federation Council Speaker wrote.
She urged to adopt the experience of the West as well "if it demonstrates its efficiency and permits achieving new results." "Moreover, I believe it is important to ensure the green corridor for private space initiatives at all stages," Matviyenko added.
