Russia to test-launch Angara-1.2 light rocket from Plesetsk spaceport soon — Roscosmos
According to Dmitry Rogozin, the test-launch of a heavy Angara-A5 rocket is also scheduled for this year
YAROSLAVL, April 25. /TASS/. An Angara-1.2 light carrier rocket will be test-launched from the Plesetsk space center in the immediate future, Roscosmos Chief Dmitry Rogozin said during his visit to the Yaroslavl radio factory on Monday.
"An Angara light rocket will be launched shortly," Rogozin said, adding that the same-type rocket would open tests of the second stage of the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Russian Far East. A light Angara-1.2PP rocket blasted off from the Plesetsk spaceport in July 2014.
The test-launch of a heavy Angara-A5 rocket is also scheduled for this year, the Roscosmos chief said.
The Angara is a family of next-generation Russian space rockets. It consists of light, medium and heavy carrier rockets with a lifting capacity of up to 37.5 tonnes. The new family of rockets uses environmentally-friendly propellant components. The first three launches of Angara heavy rockets took place from the Plesetsk spaceport on December 23, 2014, December 14, 2020, and December 27, 2021. The sole launch of a light Angara-1.2PP rocket took place in July 2014.
