Space exploration in dire need of "collective world brain" — experts
It was stressed that whenever different countries decided to team up for joint space exploration projects, they pooled not just their financial potentials, but also their main strengths
MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. Collective intellectual efforts by scientists around the world are needed for space exploration and no money can act as a substitute, experts told a TASS news conference devoted to the just-ended international humanitarian campaign - a space quiz entitled Off we go!
"True, the United States has the largest space budget of all. It can do everything on its own. But space research projects are so many that no individual country can cope with them all," said the editor-in-chief of the Pro Cosmos media resource, Alexander Baulin.
He stressed that whenever different countries decided to team up for joint space exploration projects, they pooled not just their financial potentials, but also their main strengths.
Astronomer and popularizer of science Vladimir Surdin agreed.
"Money alone is not enough. We need new ideas, and we collect them bit by bit around the globe," he said.
In his opinion, Russia’s research potential will help find a common language on the international scene faster.
The international humanitarian campaign - space quiz called Off we go! is timed for Cosmonautics Day, marked on April 12. This year the quiz was held for a second time, within the framework of the 3rd international festival of films about space "Tsiolkovsky", which is opening in Kaluga. A total of 24,000 participants in 62 countries have applied for the contest. Science fiction writer Sergey Lukyanenko is the author of the quiz.
