MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. The formulation of the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus for children will not change, although dosages of the preparation will differ depending on age, Alexander Gintsburg, Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology that developed Sputnik V, said on Friday.

"When we will receive a permit to study Sputnik V in children, the children will be divided into certain age groups. For example, 17-14, 14-9 and 9 and younger, may be even four age groups. Depending on the age group the dosage will differ, this is obvious: the younger the age group, the lower the dosage of the preparation. Whether it will be necessary to introduce any other changes to the vaccine’s formulation: I think, it won’t be necessary. With the exception that maybe, by this time research will be conducted in terms of a nasal form of this vaccine, quite possibly, then the nasal form of this vaccine will also be first of all recommended to children," he said in an interview with the Russia-24 TV channel.

The scientist emphasized that the formulation of the vaccine will remain "exactly the same."

On August 11, 2020, Sputnik V became the first registered vaccine against the coronavirus worldwide. On December 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned the possibility of creating a light version of the preparation.
