January 29. /TASS/. Belgorod State University is launching a master's program dubbed "Engineering of functional food products" to train specialists for modern areas of the food industry, reported the university's press service on Friday .

"When developing the educational program 'Engineering of Functional Foods', the modern achievements of nutritional science were taken into account. This will prepare highly qualified engineering personnel for work in the food industry, and graduates who have received education under this program, to put into practice the skills and abilities in the field of engineering of functional food products", the press service quoted the professor of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology at Belgorod State University Nina Myachikova.

Functional food products, which are rightfully a modern trend in the development of the food industry, make it possible to heal the human body and ensure its active life. Graduates of this master's program will be in demand at public catering enterprises, food industry, which, taking into account the needs of modern consumers, expand the range of products by introducing functional products.

Specialists from Belgorod State University, Moscow State University of Technology and Management, as well as representatives of employers took part the development of the program. Positive reviews have already been received from leading scientists in Moscow, employers in the capital and Belgorod. The emphasis in the program on engineering of functional food products will be put on practice-oriented training, which will involve the sites of the university's industrial partners.
