First Sfera satellite program launches scheduled for 2023

The Sfera program will include navigation, satellite communication and remote sounding of Earth
MOSCOW, April 23. /TASS/. The first spacecraft that will become part of the new Sfera [Sphere] satellite system will be launched in 2023, First Deputy CEO of State Space Corporation Roscosmos for Orbital Grouping Development and Priority Projects Yuri Urlichich told the 13th International Navigation Forum on Tuesday.
"The next step that we will take to strengthen the orbital grouping is the high-orbit space segment. Six spacecraft are supposed to be deployed by 2025, the first one will be launched in 2023," he said.
The Sfera program will include navigation, satellite communication and remote sounding of Earth. It will drastically improve the satellite services. The system will also increase the navigation accuracy in our hemisphere by 25%.
