Roscosmos CEO issues orders to install CCTV cameras on Russian segment of ISS
The places where the cameras are to be installed will be determined by the space rocket corporation Energia
MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. CCTV cameras will be installed on the Russian segment of the ISS on orders issued by the CEO of Russia’s space corporation Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, the corporation’s spokesman Vladimir Ustimenko told the media on Wednesday.
"It is true, there’ve been orders from the CEO to plant CCTV cameras. We are still to formulate design parameters, draft a technical project and train the cosmonaut who will be responsible for installing the equipment. This cannot be done overnight," Ustimenko said.
The equipment required will be ordered and dispatched to the ISS. The places where the cameras are to be installed will be determined by the space rocket corporation Energia.
At the end of August 2018 there occurred a drop in air pressure on the ISS. It took specialists several days to find out that the hull of the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft had been drilled from the inside.
On December 12, 2018 cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Oleg Kononenko made a spacewalk to examine the hole from the outside. On December 20, Prokopiev returned from the ISS to bring samples taken from the outer surface for analysis. Investigators are now examining them in order to find out the origin of the hole. The investigation on the ground is continuing.
