Team of scientific and educative center formed in Tyumen

​Russia plans to set up a single inter-regional scientific and educative center on the territory of the Tyumen, Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets regions

TYUMEN, January 29. /TASS/. The University of Tyumen hosted a four-day strategic session to form a team of the inter-regional scientific and educative center, the university’s press service told TASS on Tuesday.

“We have actually formed the ‘nucleus’ of the team that will work to create and organize the inter-regional scientific and educative center in the Tyumen Region,” the university’s spokesman said, adding that the team work will later continue in the Yamal-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi regions to discuss the development of the oil and gas sphere and Arctic technologies.

The session brought together representatives of the region’s universities and major companies, leading scientists and government officials.

Valery Falkov, the head of the University of Tyumen, said that clusterization of innovative projects at the scientific and educative center will attract major industrial partners.

“The University of Tyumen and other universities maintain close contacts with the Sibur holding, Gazprom Neft oil producer, GMS group and other leading enterprises,” he added.

Tyumen regional governor Alexander Moor said after the strategic session that the work to create the inter-regional scientific and educative center is at the final stage, the university’s press service said.

Russia plans to set up a single inter-regional scientific and educative center on the territory of the Tyumen, Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets regions.This scientific and educative center can focus on four basic spheres that take into account the specifics of the three regions. The first sphere relates to the technology of developing the Arctic, the so-called cold climate technologies, with which the Scientific Center for Arctic Studies is dealing on Yamal Peninsula.

The second field stipulates the development of oil and gas extraction and refining and the petrochemical industry. The third area involves aqua-and bio-culture. The fourth sphere deals with solving social and humanitarian issues, on which the University of Tyumen is working actively.
