Roscosmos head supports initiative on recruiting female cosmonauts

Earlier, a space industry source said that Roscosmos is putting together a team of female cosmonauts to conduct flights into outer space

ZVYOZDNY GORODOK /Moscow Region/, January 21. /TASS/. Russia’s state-run space corporation, Roscosmos, will consider the possibility of a more active recruitment of women in future space crews, head of the corporation Dmitry Rogozin told reporters on Monday.

"We think that a cosmonaut crew would look more confident, and the work would be more effective if there were more women on the team. The Cosmonaut Training Center and Roscosmos support the idea of a targeted search of future members of the cosmonaut crew among the specialists that have proven themselves as talented researchers. Of course, during the selection we will look out for the possibility to involve more female cosmonauts in the crew," Rogozin said.

Earlier, a source in the rocket and space industry told TASS that Roscosmos is putting together a team of female cosmonauts to conduct flights into outer space, noting that a search for candidates will be launched among space experts.
