The prospects for a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis "are not apparent today," Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister says

MOSCOW, February 23. /TASS/. The Anglo-Saxons are making every effort to make the war in Ukraine as bloody as possible and prevent negotiations on a peaceful settlement, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.

"The Anglo-Saxons are doing everything they can to make the war in Ukraine as bloody as possible and to prevent any serious talks on a peaceful settlement," he said.

He went on to say that the prospects for a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis "are not apparent today" amid Ukraine's President Vladimir Zelensky making demands that show "the complete detachment of official Kiev from reality." Galuzin listed among these requests the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson regions, as well as Crimea. Furthermore, the envoy drew attention to Kiev’s legislative prohibition on holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"In addition, the problem in the dialogue with Kiev is that the Zelensky regime is completely dependent on decision-making and opinion of Washington, London, and Brussels, at the insistence of which, as you know, Ukraine stopped peaceful negotiations with Russia in April 2022 that it had initiated," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said.
