Tens of billions of rubles will be needed to eliminate the damage done by the flood to the regions in the Far Eastern Federal District, Kommersant business daily writes. Participants of the meeting held by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday came to this conclusion.

Together with the president, heads of ten ministries and Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov arrived in the flooded region.

The governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region, with an estimated 4 billion ruble damage, proposed to postpone municipal elections planned for September 8, since voters in many municipalities were evacuated because of the flood. Putin expressed his firm belief that elections should be held as scheduled nonetheless.

The president ordered to form a governmental commission to deal with the flood aftermath and set up headquarters in each affect region.

The Far East can benefit from experience of the southern city of Krymsk, which was flooded last year, where 110,000 rubles were paid from the federal budget to each victim, 5,000 rubles for each sqare meter of housing to repair houses and apartments, and almost 2,000,000 rubles were paid to each family who lost their homes.

"Nobody will be neglected. Nobody will be left in truble," Putin said.

Overall,102,000 people were affected by the flood in the far east, Novye Izvestia writes. A total of 11,000 houses have been flooded, and 570 social buildings and facilities are damaged. Damage from the flood may exceed 30 billion rubles.

Military towns and health resorts are beeing looked into in order to accommodate people who lost their homes.

"We were never faced disasters of such scope," the president noted. Frosts will come to the Far East in a month. So, housing needs urgent repair or reconstruction. Putin ordered the Russian Investigative Committee to look into all complaints received from citizens regarding actions of officials in the reconstruction of the infrastructure destroyed by water in the region.
