Russia to display its first-ever drone at MAKS 2015 aerospace show
The aircraft of this type will be use for observation, monitoring and even in rescue operations, Aerospace Systems design bureau CEO said
YEKATERINGBURG, August 21. /TASS/. The first-ever Russian drone, a co-product of the Moscow-based Aerospace Systems design bureau and the Urals Civil Aviation Factory will be displayed at the MAKS 2015 aerospace show, due to be held in the town of Zhukovsky near Moscow from August 25 through August 30, the design bureau Director General, Dmitry Podaryashchiy told reporters.
"We'll demonstrate the process of information exchanges with our drone at MAKS," he said adding that the new product had no analogues on the Russian market.
Experts will transmit real-time pictures from the aircraft to the ground control switchboard where they will be be processed and quality images will be produced.
The drone has a glass fiber station that will transmit about 16 megabits of information a second. The aircraft of this type will be use for observation, monitoring and even in rescue operations, Podaryashchiy said.
"In essence, the drones will replace helicopters of the Mi-8 family and their analogues, with the exception that our aircraft uses much smaller quantities of fuel thanks to their small mass, which varies from 10 kilograms to 1.5 tons depending on the model," he said.
One more advantage of the drones is the utilization of diesel fuel in them, thus making it possible to save fuel.
At present, the Russian drones are in the phase of pre-show testing. Their batch manufacturing is expected to begin in two years' time.
Delegations from over eighty countries are expected to attend MAKS 2015. The list of participants includes more than 150 foreign companies and more than 600 Russian organizations.
