Russian investigators to probe machete attack on emergencies ministry’s employee

On August 2, at least five men attacked a group of people, among which was the emergencies ministry employee, one of the attackers cut off his arm and foot with a sharp object, supposedly a machete

MOSCOW, August 7. /TASS/. The attack on an employee of the emergencies ministry Evgeny Nikulin in south-eastern Moscow district is qualified as an attempted murder, Yulia Ivanova of the Moscow branch of the Investigative Committee told TASS on Friday.

"The further probe will be conducted by the Moscow branch of the Investigative Committee," she said.

At night on August 2, at least five men attacked a group of people, among which was an employee of the emergencies ministry. One of the attackers had a sharp object (supposedly a machete).

"During the conflict a man, who tried to kill the employee, cut off his hand and foot," the representative said. "Witnesses called for the ambulance, and later on doctors managed to keep the man’s foot."

The investigation is underway.

The attacked man is a driver of a fire training center Sgt. Evgeny Nikulin.
