Share of modern weaponry in Russia’s Airborne Forces reaches 37% — commander

The share of modern combat equipment in the Russian Airborne Troops is expected to reach no less than 70% by 2020

MOSCOW, July 29. /TASS/. The share of modern combat hardware in Russia’s Airborne Troops has reached 37%, Airborne Force Commander Vladimir Shamanov said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV Channel on Wednesday.

"As of today, we have fully complied with the criteria requiring the share of modern weaponry equaling no less than 30% In the Airborne Forces, this share is 37% This means we’re outpacing the schedule," the commander said.

"We look with optimism into the next five-year period," Shamanov said, adding the share of modern combat equipment in the Russian Airborne Troops would reach no less than 70% by 2020.
