Group of Russian Navy ships calls at Equatorial Guinea port
On July 20, Russia and Equatorial Guinea signed an intergovernmental agreement on facilitating the procedure of calls of Russian warships to ports of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea
MOSCOW, July 21. /TASS/. The first warships of the Russian Navy came to Malabo port, Equatorial Guinea, on Tuesday under an agreement on the simplified procedure of Russian warships’ entry to the ports of Equatorial Guinea, Russian Navy spokesman Captain 1st Rank Igor Dygalo told reporters.
"A group of Russian warships comprising the Moskva missile cruiser, the Pytlivy escort ship, the Ivan Bubnov tanker and the Shakhtyor rescue tug has called at the port of Malabo — the capital of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. The Russian Navy ships’ business call will last until July 24," he said.
Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Viktor Chirkov, who is on an official visit in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, will visit the Moskva missile cruiser.
The Russian naval business call program envisages protocol visits of the commander of the group of ships and the ships’ commanders to the leadership of the armed forces of Equatorial Guinea, visiting of the ships by officials of the republic’s armed forces and members of the Russian consulate. The crews of the Russian Navy group of ships will have sightseeing tours in Malabo and a sports competition — a mini-football match with Guinea’s navy men.
On Monday, Russia and Equatorial Guinea signed an intergovernmental agreement on facilitating the procedure of calls of Russian warships to ports of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
A Russian military delegation led by Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Viktor Chirkov is visiting the Republic of Equatorial Guinea from July 19 to 22.
