Muscovite claiming $87,000 from McDonald’s rejects settlement — attorney

A representative of McDonald’s offered $1,750 and a settlement for a hot coffee dropped on a complainant's three-year old daughter but he did not agree to that, his attorney says

MOSCOW, July 21. /TASS/. Muscovite Alexey Karelov that filed an action against McDonald’s claiming a $87,000 compensation for hot coffee dropped on his three-year old daughter chose not to enter into a settlement with the company, attorney Pyotr Dombrovitskiy told TASS on Tuesday.

"A representative of McDonald’s offered $1,750 and a settlement but we do not agree to that," the attorney said.

Moscow’s district court scheduled the consideration of the claim on the merits for September 18.

An incident occurred in April 2015 in a McDonald’s restaurant in southern Moscow. Karelov was there with his spouse and three-year old daughter. An operator turned a cup with hot coffee over the girl when issuing the order. The child suffered first degree burns.
