SCO to do everything to prevent repetition of World War II tragedy — Putin

According to the Russian president, this approach is envisaged in the joint statement in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism to be adopted on Friday

UFA, July 10. /TASS/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member-countries intend to make every effort to continue the fight against Nazism. This approach is envisaged in the joint statement to be adopted, among other documents, at the SCO summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the expanded SCO session on Friday.

"The Ufa summit is being held in the year of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II," Putin said. "We deeply honor feats of heroism of our peoples and will do everything possible to prevent the repetition of the tragedy, which brought the world to the brink of annihilation." According to the president, this approach is envisaged in the joint statement in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism to be adopted on Friday.

The Russian president added that he would take part in the celebrations in September at the invitation of Chinese friends to mark the 70th anniversary of the defeat of the Japanese militarism, along with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
