Belarus has no intention of 'going to SCO hat in hand' — foreign minister

The country wants to make its contribution to the organization’s development and take part in the development and implementation of mutually beneficial projects, its foreign minister says
UFA, July 9. /TASS/. Belarus hopes for mutually-advantageous cooperation after its status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is elevated to observer, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei told the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Thursday.
"We do not intend to go hat in hand to this organization [the SCO]. We want to make our contribution to the organization’s development and take part in the development and implementation of mutually beneficial projects," he said.
He expressed the hope that Belarus would be granted observer status on Friday.
