Vitaly Milonov is worried about protection of Russia’s informational space from "the influence of western ideology"

St.PETERSBURG, June 15. /TASS/. Vitaly Milonov - a deputy of the St.Petersburg legislature, has suggested developing a concept of protection of Russia’s informational space from "the influence of western ideology" and labelling all western products, which were acknowledged "harmful." The MP said that such a label should be given to a popular book The Game of Thrones and a TV series based on the book.

"We can see that the Internet and television have assumed a leading function in education, replacing or ousting altogether traditional methods of education and upbringing of the young generation. Denying the fact or pretending that nothing of the kind is going on is a short-sighted position," Milonov told TASS.

"It is not the point of scenes of violence or elements of advocating violence which is at issue. The point is that practically any product of culture, which is brought to us from the west, advocates values which provoke the formation of a certain paradigm of views on politics and the reality," Milonov said.

"Nowadays, any game or a TV film series is not merely a merry thing to see. For example, in The Game of Thrones book every tenth character is a sexual deviant. Such products and their popularization in this country might bring ideas to our minds that a certain conduct is a matter of fact thing," the MP said.

Milonov stressed that the methods of protection "should not merely confine to prohibitive measures against such content, but that the content should also be given a corresponding category. "If a product conforms to a category of our traditional values and does not advocate deviation or overthrowing our social system, such a product is acceptable to us," Milonov said.

Vitaly Milonov is well known for his previous initiatives which caught the headlines. Thus, he suggested making bicycle riders pass traffic rules examinations and prohibiting people appear in public topless or wearing bathing suits.
