MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and British Prime Minister Davis Cameron, who had a telephone conversation on Monday, stressed the necessity of strict fulfilment of the entire package of measures on the implementation of the Minsk agreements of February 12, the Kremlin press service reported.

The Russian president "underscored the importance of a direct dialogue between the Kiev authorities and representatives of Donbas which would promote lasting settlement of the situation in south-eastern Ukraine," the press service said.

Putin once again congratulated Cameron on his re-appointment Prime Minister after the May 7 parliamentary elections. "It was agreed to continue Russia-Britain contacts at various levels. The Russian side reiterated its readiness to cooperate with the British government with an aim of restoring constructive cooperation both on the bilateral agenda and on international problems," the Kremlin press service noted.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East "with a focus on the Syrian problem and efforts to rebuff the Islamic State terrorist group." "The sides expressed satisfaction with the results of joint efforts of the P5+1 group of international mediators at the talks on the Iranian nuclear programme," the press service said.
