MOSCOW, May 24 /TASS/. Russian singer Polina Gagarina with the song called "A Million Voices" was second at the 60th jubilee Eurovision song contest. The vote results were announced in Vienna tonight. .
Swedish signer Mans Zelmerlew with the song Heroes is a new Eurovision song contest winner.
A Million Voices song was written by an international team of authors, including a Swedish composer.
Gagarina’s producer Konstantin Meladze called the song "A Million Voices" a "message to the world" which was answered by Polina’s numerous fans. The video of Gagarina’s semi-final performance in Youtube was watched by more than four million people. Most visitors coming from Greece, Ukraine, Switzerland, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro and many other countries greeted her with words of support and wished her good luck.
The Russian singer appeared on the Eurovision stage in a long white dress. Al Gordon, a lightning designer who designed the opening and closing ceremonies of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games.
Gagarina is the winner of the ‘Fabrika Zvyozd 2" (Factory of Stars 2) national song contest and the prize winner of the Novaya Volna (New Wave) song contest. She finished a music college under the Russian Gnesins Academy of Music and graduated from the studio school of the Moscow Academic Art Theatre (MKHAT). Gagarina has issued two albums.
Russia has been taking part in Eurovision contests since 1994. Nineteen singers have represented Russia at the contest since then. However, Russia won it only once. Russian singer Dima Bilan won the 2008 Eurovision song contest in Belgrade with the song Believe.
