MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. Moscow Metro, which opened on May 15, 1935, launched a two-day parade of vintage trains on Friday to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
"The Metro is the most popular transport. The parade will attract the attention of Muscovites and visitors as a spectacular performance," Metro chief Dmitry Pegov said.
Passengers of the Metro's Ring Line will be able to ride in one of the first rail cars to carry Muscovites eight decades ago.
Moscow's system was the first underground railway in the Soviet Union. Its pioneering line was 11 kilometres long and had 13 stations.
