Russia takes leading positions in space radar technology — RTI concern
The RTI concern has begun to develop on-board radars alongside ground-based ones
MOSCOW, April 22. /TASS/. Russia is in no way inferior to the United States in space radar technologies and in some aspects even surpasses it, the deputy chief general designer of the OJSC RTI, Dmitry Stupin, has told TASS.
"In the sphere of radio location, I believe, Russia is not inferior to the Americans - the world engineering leader, and possibly surpasses them in some respects," he said.
Stupin explained the United States was in the lead in air space monitoring, "while in the sphere of outer space monitoring our radars’ parameters are certainly not worse than those of the Americans."
"We have managed to compensate our lagging behind in technologies and know-hows with better designer, software and algorithmic solutions," Stupin said.
The RTI concern has begun to develop on-board radars alongside ground-based ones.
"We have platform solutions that can be used for formulating specific proposals for ground facilities and any on-board ones. They are still in the research and development phase, but certainly have a good future," he said.
