Tent camp in Rostov region set up in case Ukrainian refugee flow increases
There are 10 stationary temporary accommodation centers in the Rostov region in which 1,752 people have taken refuge
ROSTOV-ON-DON, April 15. /TASS/. Rescuers have begun to set up a tent camp for 1,000 people that will be able to receive Ukrainian refugees near the city of Novoshakhtinsk in Russia’s southern Rostov region, the information policy department of the regional government told TASS on Wednesday.
"We’ll not move refugees from stationary centers to the field camp, as it is on standby in case the inflow of refugees increases drastically. The field temporary accommodation center is being built at the site instead of an earlier camp and is being properly equipped for round-the-clock stay of people, including children of different age," the report says.
"Personnel of the Rostov region’s emergency response department are currently setting up tents, installing shower booths, equipping humanitarian cargo storage places, a nutrition unit and a medical aid station," the source said.
There are 10 stationary temporary accommodation centers in the Rostov region in which 1,752 people have taken refuge. A total of 35,967 Ukrainian citizens stay with their relatives and friends.
Rostov region’ authorities said previously that at least 300,000 Ukrainian refugees who fled from their war-torn country into the bordering region still remained there. Some 2.5 million Ukrainian citizens arrived in the Rostov region since the conflict began [last April]," regional head Sergey Bondaryov said on Monday, adding that about 500 people had obtained Russian citizenship and about 10,000 got a job in Rostov. He also said that nearly 6,500 children and young people from Ukraine currently attended the region’s schools and universities.
