Alexey Navalny has served 15 days in jail for handing out leaflets in the Moscow metro

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny has been released from a Moscow detention center after serving 15 days for handing out leaflets in the capital's subway, his press secretary said on Friday.

Navalny was detained on February 15 for promoting an opposition rally scheduled for March 1.

The rally later turned into a memorial march after another opposition figure, Boris Nemtsov, was shot dead in downtown Moscow on Ferbruary 27.

Navalny filed a request with a Moscow couirt to be released from prison so he could attend Nemtsov’s funeral that took place on March 3. However, the court turned down his request.
