Allies: Nemtsov’s death irreparable loss for Russian opposition

Family, friends and colleagues are paying last respects to Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov who was shot and killed in Moscow overnight to Saturday

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Allies of killed politician Boris Nemtsov praise him as a reformer, and say his death is an irreparable loss for the opposition.

Politician Boris Nemtsov will go down in history as a reformer, said Mikhail Kasyanov, co-chairman of liberal democratic political party RPR-Parnas and former Russian prime minister.

"A successful governor became a successful senior government official, vice premier and reformer," Kasyanov said.

Former co-chairman of the party, Vladimir Ryzhkov, said it was an irreparable loss for the opposition. "An awful political murder of national scope, tremendous pain, shock and fear," he said about the killing. "He was an absolute leader, it is impossible to replace him," he added.

Presidential envoy to the State Duma Garry Minkh said Boris Nemtsov was a creative mind who loved Russia.

Nemtsov’s death became an "irreparable loss," Minkh said. At his state positions and in political parties, Nemtsov "created something new," he added.

"Boris loved Russia," Minkh stressed, expressing condolences to Nemtsov’s family and friends.

Nemtsov, co-chair of RPR-Parnas and lawmaker at the Yaroslavl city duma, was killed as he was crossing Moskvoretsky Bridge in view of the Kremlin overnight to Saturday.

The funeral for the opposition politician will take place on March 3, he will be buried at Moscow’s Troyekurovskoye cemetery.
