Russia calls on all parties concerned to demonstrate maximum restraint, stop the spiral of violence and take urgent steps to deescalate the situation, the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement says

MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. Russia expresses serious concern over a sharp heightening of tensions between Israel and Syria, and between Israel and Lebanon, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Following Israel’s air strike near Syria’s Al-Quneitra on January 18, a series of missile attacks on the Israel-occupied Golan Heights was conducted on January 27 from the Syrian territory that were followed by Israel’s shelling of positions of the Syrian army. "On January 28, Hezbollah’s militarized wing shelled an Israeli army vehicle near the so-called Shebaa farms, wounding four Israeli servicemen," the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled.

"Moscow expresses serious concern over the sharp heightening of tensions between Israel and Syria, and between Israel and Lebanon," the ministry underscored. "We call on all parties concerned to demonstrate maximum restraint, stop the spiral of violence and take urgent steps to deescalate the situation."
