The United States and France have drafted their versions of the UN Security Council’s resolution on Palestine

MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. The United States and France have drafted their versions of the UN Security Council’s resolution on Palestine, Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told the media on Tuesday.

“The Palestinians have presented their own draft. It contains specific dates for an end to the occupation and we support that document,” Gatilov said.

“The French draft of the resolution is milder, but it is consonant with the Palestinian text. The Americans have finalized their own proposal, too. All ideas and elements will now be discussed further. We have the US text at our disposal,” he went on to say.

When asked what option was preferable for Russia, the senior diplomat said “our priority is to ensure the UN Security Council’s resolution should adopt resolution that would help resolve that problem and contribute to settling the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis.”

Everybody agrees that UN Security Council Resolution is an urgent need.

“That the Americans have proposed their own text is a sure sign they proceed from the understanding that some resolution is necessary. What sort of resolution there will be is to be decided in the context of specific negotiations and consultations over specific formulas,” Gatilov said.
