MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. The situation in the south-east of Ukraine, in particular, the difficult humanitarian situation in Donetsk and Luhansk was discussed on Friday at a meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin held with permanent members of the Russian Security Council, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said Friday.

“The situation in the south-east of Ukraine was discussed in detail in the context of the recent settlement efforts,” Peskov said after the meeting. “The meeting participants expressed deep concern over the continuing extremely tense humanitarian situation in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions,” Peskov said.

According to the press secretary, “the head of state also informed the meeting participants about the results of his visits to Uzbekistan and India earlier this week, describing them as productive and positive from the viewpoint of prospects for the further development of cooperation.”

The meeting was attended by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko, chief of the Kremlin administration Sergey Ivanov, Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev and his deputy Rashid Nurgaliyev, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov and Foreign Intelligence Service chief Mikhail Fradkov, as well as permanent member of the Russian Security Council Boris Gryzlov.
